About Stoked & Woke
Stoked & Woke is an Austrian apparel brand run by partners Kane and Lis. The brand embodies the ethos of appreciating nature and the outdoors, and living sustainably. Case-in-point, all Stoked & Woke orders are printed to order, and the materials used are either GOTS cotton or recycled. They were also an early adopter of Verdn — they've now pledged to plant over 10,000 trees, and to recover over 6,400 kilos of ocean-bound plastic, with their products.
Problem: low conversion rates means lost revenue
Stoked & Woke were struggling to increase their conversion rates. Relative to industry averages, the number of people buying after adding to cart was below average. Improving this number provided a sizeable revenue opportunity:
- Stoked & Woke is a small, print-on-demand business; cost-cutting is hard
- Website optimisations, on the other hand, can provide instant returns
- They wanted to leverage their generous impact pledges to sell more
We knew that our checkout rates could be better, but we haven't had much time to optimise our cart experience. When Verdn released their new cart badge, we thought this could be an easy win to remind customers about their positive impact right before completing their purchase.

Solution: using Verdn's cart badge to boost conversion rates
Stoked & Woke opted in to be an early user of Verdn's new cart badge. This cart badge dynamically displays the total impact the customer will receive (and be able to track) if they complete their purchase.
The whole setup took no more than two minutes: Stoked & Woke simply activated the cart badge within the Verdn Shopify app, and then added the Verdn Cart Badge app block to their cart page inside their Shopify theme editor.
Result: 14% higher conversion rates for 2 minutes work
In the first 3 weeks since installing the Verdn cart badge, Stoked & Woke saw tremendous, statistically significant, results:
- 14% increase in conversion rate, for 2 minutes of work
- 6.5 euros in extra revenue for every euro spent on impact (6.5x ROI)
- They pledged another 426 kg of ocean-bound plastic cleanup, and 392 trees
We always suspected being sustainable could help us sell more, not earn less. The new cart badge from Verdn has proven conclusively that our hunch was right. We never wanted to compromise on our values, and we wanted to have a positive impact despite the impact on our bottom line — now we know that there is no compromise
