How Eden Ashram achieved a 32x ROI on their impact pledges with Verdn

Eden Ashram is an award-winning British clothing brand offering premium, ethical, and sustainable apparel that boasts benefits for both customers and our planet. They are also pioneers of eco-friendly fabrics and packaging, and they hand-finish items to minimise waste. Since partnering with Verdn, Eden Ashram has achieved some remarkable milestones with their impact pledges: they've planted 14,000+ trees, recovered 250+ kilos of ocean-bound plastic, and restored 13,000+ square centimetres of coral reef.

Problem: D2C brands can't take on extra costs when margins are tight

As a D2C apparel brand, Eden Ashram faces the pressures of a fashion industry notorious for tight margins and fierce competition. As a default, new cost items are avoided like the plague. To even be considered, a new cost needs to be in the service of boosting revenue. Essentially, it needs to provide a “return on investment”, or ROI. Otherwise, it's a non-starter.

As a sustainable brand, we're always looking for more ways to give back to the environment. At the same time, as a new brand just starting out on our D2C journey, we have to be extremely aware of costs. Solution: using Verdn's cart badge to make impact pledges pay for themselves

Eden Ashram installed Verdn's cart badge into both their cart drawer, and their cart page. The cart badge dynamically displays the total positive impact the shopper will have (and will be able to track) if they complete checkout.

To measure the badge's efficacy, Verdn set up an A/B test where only 50% of shoppers would be able to see it. Immediately after installation, shoppers that saw the badge started converting better than those who didn't.

Result: a 32x ROI on their impact pledges

Within just 3 weeks of activating Verdn's cart badge, Eden Ashram witnessed remarkable results that disproportionally boosted their revenue:

  • $32 in extra revenue for every dollar spent on impact (32x ROI)
  • Thousands of dollars in extra revenue, every month
  • 37% higher customer conversion rate
  • Hundreds of new pledges, including tree planting, ocean-plastic recovery, and coral reef restoration, that would otherwise not have happened!
